The RCSD summer sports camp provides middle school students with the opportunity to try a variety of sports for free.

Students develop skills and confidence and are connected with opportunities to join RCSD sports team to play their favorite sports year long.

Your donation really makes a difference, the camp is grant funded and does not allow for the purchase of some of the practical items needed for the kids to get the most out of the experience. Action for Education Equity fundraises to provide each student with a pack containing t-shirts, a water bottle and a bag. These items allow them to be identified when out visiting sports facilities in the community, to keep their things organized and of course to stay hydrated during the hot summer days! These packs show they students on day 1 that RCSD Sports are for them and they belong to a very special community. All for just $25 per student.

Why is this important?

The Rochester City School District (RCSD) collected data on the impact of participation in sport on students. They found that students participating in at least one sport saw increased Grade Point Averages (GPAs), better attendance and less suspensions.

Investing in middle school students to try sports and develop confidence and skills will have an impact on their school experience all the way to graduation.
